Plumbing Licensing in Indialantic, Florida

Who Needs a License

Any person who engages in plumbing work in Indialantic must hold a valid Florida plumbing license. Under Fla. Stat. § 489.105, plumbing is defined as the practice involving the installation, maintenance, or repair of pipes, fixtures, and appliances for the supply and distribution of water; the collection and disposal of wastewater and sewage; medical gas piping systems; and related work. Work that modifies, extends, or maintains these systems requires licensure.

How to Get Licensed

Plumbing licensure is issued by the Construction Industry Licensing Board under authority of Fla. Stat. § 489.107. To become licensed:

  1. Meet qualifications under Fla. Stat. § 489.113, which requires documented work experience (typically 4 years for a journeyperson plumber license, or equivalent combinations of apprenticeship and experience).

  2. Pass the state examination administered by the CILB. The exam tests knowledge of Florida plumbing code, safety standards, and trade practices.

  3. Apply directly to the Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board—not to the town of Indialantic. The CILB processes all applications statewide.

  4. Pay the required state licensing fees (amounts set by CILB rules).

Applicants should verify current experience requirements and exam schedules with the CILB before applying, as these may be updated.
