Who Needs a License

Any person engaging in air conditioning work in Florida must hold a state license. Under Fla. Stat. § 489.105, "air conditioning contractor" means a person who engages in the business of installing, maintaining, servicing, or repairing air conditioning systems. This includes ductwork, refrigerant handling, and system design work.

Work that requires licensing includes:

- Replacement of compressors, evaporators, or condensers

How to Get Licensed

The state board processes applications and issues the license; Lecanto does not issue state contractor licenses.
