Real Estate Licensing in Heritage Bay CDP, Florida
Who Needs a License
Under Florida law, a real estate broker or sales associate must be licensed to sell, buy, exchange, rent, or lease real property on behalf of another person for compensation.[^1] Any individual or entity engaging in these activities within Heritage Bay CDP must hold a valid Florida real estate license.
A "real estate broker" is defined as a person who, for compensation or promise of compensation, sells or offers to sell, buys or offers to buy, exchanges or offers to exchange, rents or offers to rent any real property or businesses, or who negotiates or offers to negotiate the purchase, sale, exchange, or rental of real property or businesses, or who holds himself or herself out as engaged in the business of selling, buying, exchanging, or renting real property or businesses.[^1]
A "sales associate" is a person employed by a broker to perform brokerage services.[^1] All compensation-based real estate work requires licensure.
