Real Estate Licensing in Plantation Island CDP, Florida

Who Needs a License

Under Florida law, a real estate broker or sales associate must be licensed to engage in the business of selling, buying, exchanging, leasing, or renting real property on behalf of others for compensation.[^1]

A "real estate broker" is defined as any person who, for another and for compensation or the promise of compensation, sells, exchanges, purchases, rents, or leases real property or who advertises or holds themselves out as engaged in these activities.[^1] A "real estate sales associate" is a person employed by a broker to perform these same activities under the broker's supervision.[^1]

If you perform any of these functions in exchange for compensation in Plantation Island CDP, you must be licensed by the state before conducting business.
