Plumbing Licensing in Five Points CDP, Florida

Who Needs a License

Any person who engages in plumbing work in Five Points CDP must hold a valid Florida plumbing license. Under Fla. Stat. § 489.105, plumbing is defined as work involving the installation, repair, and maintenance of pipes, fixtures, and appurtenances for the supply and distribution of water; the collection and removal of wastewater; and related systems. This includes new construction, alterations, and repairs to plumbing systems.

How to Get Licensed

Florida plumbing licenses are issued by the Construction Industry Licensing Board (CILB) established under Fla. Stat. § 489.107. The process follows these steps:

  1. Determine your license category: Florida offers different plumbing license levels (e.g., journeyman plumber, master plumber) with varying experience and exam requirements.

  2. Meet qualifications: Per Fla. Stat. § 489.113, applicants must demonstrate competency through required years of documented experience in plumbing work and pass the CILB examination.

  3. Apply with the state: Submit your application directly to the Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board, not through the local municipality. The application must include proof of experience, education, and citizenship or legal residency.

  4. Pass the examination: You must pass the state plumbing exam administered by the CILB.

Once you receive your state license, you are authorized to perform plumbing work throughout Florida, including in Five Points CDP.
