Sec. 31.707. - Ownership of items; insurance on exhibits and materials.

Section: 31.707.

All items located in the Fire Museum and under the custody of the Executive Director shall be the property of the City, and title to those items shall be vested in the City; provided, however, that items which are on loan to the Fire Museum shall remain the property of the original owner unless subsequently donated to or acquired by the City. The Director of Finance and Administration, through the Self-Insurance Program, is authorized to insure, or to purchase insurance on, the items in the Fire Museum collection in order to protect the financial interest of the City, and the Executive Director shall pay the cost thereof from available appropriations or Fire Museum Trust Fund funds; provided, that the Director of Finance and Administration may limit the liability of the City as to loss of or damage to individual items or classes of items in the Fire Museum collection, and provided further, that the Director of Finance and Administration shall promulgate rules for the valuation of items to be covered under insurance, including appraisal of the items by an independent appraiser.
