Sec. 480.109. - Pay toilets prohibited.

(a) No pay toilets shall be installed in any facilities located in any public building. All pay toilets installed in any public building before April 11, 1974 shall have the coin-operated locking mechanism removed from each stall within 30 days from April 11, 1974, and such toilets shall thereafter be free for use of the public. (b) All privately-owned buildings which are used by the public and that are required to be furnished with toilet facilities by the building code shall furnish at least the minimum number of toilets required by the building code without charge to the public for the use thereof. (c) If there is any contract existing on April 11, 1974 between the owner of any building which is the subject of this Section and any person by which the other person has been granted the right or privilege of installing or operating the pay toilets prohibited by this Section, the application of this Section to the building shall be suspended during the current term of the contract; but no extension of the term of the contract shall be effective to prevent the application of this Section, and this Section shall become effective as to the building upon the expiration of the current term of the contract.
