Sec. 492.101. - Purpose and authority.

The purpose of the Low-Income Pool (LIP) assessment is to provide a funding source for the LIP program which allows hospitals in the area to collect additional funding to cover the costs of uncompensated care. This Initial Special Assessment Ordinance is adopted pursuant to the authority granted in F.S. Ch. 170, Chapter 715, Jacksonville Ordinance Code; as well as the home rule powers conferred upon municipalities and chartered counties by Article VIII of the Florida Constitution; and F.S. Chs. 125 and 166. (Ord. 2024-212-E , § 4)
