Sec. 62.101. - Board established.

There is established a Construction Trades Qualifying Board (hereinafter referred to as the Board) consisting of 18 members from the following categories who shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council: (a) One architect registered in the State; (b) One engineer registered in the State; (c) Three contractors certified by the State or holding valid certificates of competency with the Board and registered with the State, one in each of the following categories; a general, building or residential contractor; a swimming pool contractor; and a roofing contractor. (d) Four contractors certified by or registered with the State, or holding a local specialty contractor certificate of competency, and holding a valid journeyman or master certificate of competency with the Board, one in each of the following categories: an electrical contractor; a heating, air conditioning, refrigeration (HAR) contractor; a plumbing contractor; and an irrigation contractor; (e) Three journeyman craftsmen or master certificates holding valid journeyman craftsman certificates or master certificates with the Board, one in each of the following categories: an electrical contractor; a heating, air conditioning, refrigeration (HAR) contractor; and a plumbing contractor; (f) Two individuals associated with the apartment industry; and (g) Two citizens who are not associated with the construction industry. If sufficient members from categories (c), (d), and (e) are unavailable, the appointing authority may select additional members from category (g) or from specialty contractor categories holding Certificate of Competency with this Board. Each member of the Board shall reside in Duval County. Provided, however, any nonresident member serving on the board on February 1, 1997, who is serving a second term may continue serving until the expiration of such term, and any nonresident member serving on the board on February 1, 1997, who is serving a first term may continue serving on the board for the remainder of that term and may be reappointed for one more full term. To be eligible to serve, each trade member must have been so engaged in the trade for a period of not less than three consecutive years before the date of appointment.
