Contractor Licensing in Fort Denaud CDP, Florida

Who Needs a License

Florida law requires licensing for contractors engaged in construction, remodeling, repair, or improvement of buildings and structures. Under Fla. Stat. § 489.105, a "contractor" is defined as any person who, for compensation, undertakes to, offers to, purports to, or agrees to build, construct, construct a part of, alter, repair, add to, subtract from, improve, move, wreck, or demolish any building or structure, or to do other construction work.

The scope includes general contracting, mechanical work, electrical work, plumbing, and specialty trades. Unlicensed contracting is illegal and exposes both the contractor and property owner to liability.
