Contract execution authorized

The mayor and the city clerk are hereby authorized to execute contracts in the form set forth in section 17-17 with members of the police and fire departments now having a pension contract with the city who elect to make the increased contributions from earnings therein provided for to the pension fund and with new members of such departments who do not now participate in the pension fund, who in the future may become eligible to participate and elect to do so; provided, however, that the only persons authorized to enter into such contracts hereunder shall be those employed in the fire department as firefighters and in the police department as police officers.
