Plumbing Licensing in Suncoast Estates CDP, Florida
Who Needs a License
Florida law requires a license for any person who engages in plumbing work. Under Fla. Stat. § 489.105, plumbing is defined as work involving the installation, maintenance, or repair of pipes, fixtures, and appliances used for the supply and distribution of water, and the collection and disposal of waterborne waste.
Any individual performing plumbing work in Suncoast Estates must hold a valid Florida plumbing license issued by the Construction Industry Licensing Board (CILB).
How to Get Licensed
Florida plumbing licenses are issued by the Construction Industry Licensing Board under Fla. Stat. § 489.107. The board administers the licensing process statewide; there is no separate municipal licensing authority in Suncoast Estates CDP.
To qualify for a plumbing license, applicants must meet experience requirements and pass a state examination. Specific qualifications for practice are defined in Fla. Stat. § 489.113, which establishes minimum hours of practical experience and competency standards.
Steps:
- Verify you meet the experience and educational requirements under Fla. Stat. § 489.113
- Apply directly to the Construction Industry Licensing Board (CILB)
- Pass the required state plumbing examination
- Receive your Florida plumbing license
The CILB application process, fees, and exam dates are available through the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR). Apply through the state board; Suncoast Estates does not issue plumbing licenses.
