Correction of violations
Section: 19-27
(a)
When a violation of this chapter, the Florida Fire Prevention Code, or any rule or regulation of the state fire marshal, has occurred or continues to exist or when there is a reasonable likelihood of imminent endangerment to life, health or property because of a threatened violation of any of the foregoing provisions, the city's chief fire code enforcement official, or designee thereof, in his/her discretion, may do any of the following:
(1)
Take any action necessary to prevent such a violation;
(2)
Trace, investigate, control, abate and remedy such a violation; and
(3)
Restore the air, waters, property, animal life, aquatic life and plant life within the city to their former condition.
(b)
This section shall not be construed to provide a defense to or otherwise relieve or limit the liability or responsibility of any person who violated or is violating the particular provisions of law or ordinance aforesaid. Any sums expended by the city in an effort to effect a remedy may be recovered as provided by section 19-22.
