Engineering Licensing in Celebration CDP, Florida

Who Needs a License

Florida regulates professional engineering through state statute. Under Fla. Stat. § 489.105, "practice of engineering" means performing or offering to perform engineering services or work, including consultation, investigation, evaluation, planning, design, or supervision of construction. If your work involves these activities in Celebration CDP, you need a state Professional Engineer (PE) license.

How to Get Licensed

Florida's Construction Industry Licensing Board (CILB) issues PE licenses under Fla. Stat. § 489.107. The process requires:

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or equivalent.
  2. Experience: Typically four years of progressive experience in engineering practice.
  3. Exams: Pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, then the Professional Engineer (PE) exam.
  4. Military Credit: If you have relevant military training or education, Fla. Stat. § 489.1131 allows credit toward experience requirements.

Apply through the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) or the CILB. Requirements and application procedures are detailed in Fla. Stat. § 489.113.
