Who Needs a License
In Florida, a real estate license is required to act as a real estate broker, sales associate, or property manager for compensation. Under Fla. How to Get Licensed
Step 1: Meet Prerequisites
- Be at least 18 years old
- Be a Florida resident or maintain a place of business in Florida
- Pass a pre-licensing education course approved by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR)
Step 2: Apply with DBPR
Submit your application to the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, Division of Regulation of Professions. The application requires proof of pre-licensing education completion.
Step 3: Pass the State Exam
Pass the Florida real estate sales associate or broker examination administered by DBPR. Broker applicants must also demonstrate two years of active experience as a sales associate within the five years preceding application.
Step 4: Receive License
Upon approval, DBPR issues your license. You must thereafter maintain your license through continuing education requirements and renewal fees.
