Real Estate Licensing in San Castle CDP, Florida

Who Needs a License

Under Florida law, a real estate broker or sales associate must hold a valid license to engage in the business of selling, buying, exchanging, leasing, or renting real property for compensation. [Fla. Stat. § 489.105] defines a "broker" as any natural person, partnership, or corporation that receives compensation for performing services related to the sale, purchase, exchange, lease, or rental of real property on behalf of others.

A "sales associate" is a natural person employed by or associated with a broker who performs similar services under the broker's supervision and for the broker's compensation.

If you accept compensation—whether commission, salary, or any other form of payment—for assisting others in real estate transactions, you must be licensed.
