Engineering Licensing in Holiday CDP, Florida

Who Needs a License

Florida law requires licensure for individuals who offer or perform engineering services. Under Fla. Stat. § 489.105, "engineering" means any professional service or creative work requiring engineering education, training, and experience. This includes design, analysis, consultation, and supervision of construction projects.

If you perform engineering work in Holiday CDP without proper licensure, you violate state law and cannot legally contract for such services in Pasco County.

How to Get Licensed

Step 1: Meet Qualifications
You must satisfy requirements under Fla. Stat. § 489.113, which typically requires:
- A degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- Four years of progressive engineering experience under a licensed professional engineer
- Passage of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
- Passage of the Professional Engineer (PE) exam in your discipline

Step 2: Apply with the Board
The Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board (Fla. Stat. § 489.107) administers professional engineer licenses. Submit your application, transcripts, work experience documentation, and exam results directly to the board through the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR).

Step 3: Military Service Credit
If you have relevant military training or education, Fla. Stat. § 489.1131 allows you to request credit toward experience or education requirements. Submit military documentation with your application.
