Who Needs a License
Under Florida law, a real estate broker or sales associate must hold a valid license to engage in the business of selling, buying, exchanging, leasing, or renting real property on behalf of others for compensation. How to Get Licensed
Florida real estate licenses are issued by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR), Division of Real Estate, not a local entity.

1. Complete a 63-hour pre-licensing course from a DBPR-approved provider
2. Pass the Florida Real Estate Sales Associate Exam
3. Affiliate with a licensed broker in Florida
4. Submit your application to DBPR with proof of course completion and exam passage
For Brokers:
1. Complete a 72-hour broker pre-licensing course
2. Pass the Florida Real Estate Broker Exam
3. Demonstrate 24 months of experience as a licensed sales associate within the 5-year period before applying
4. Submit your application to DBPR
