Home Inspector Licensing in Navarre Beach CDP, Florida
Who Needs a License
Florida law does not create a separate licensing category for home inspectors under Chapter 489 of the Florida Statutes. Home inspection services are not regulated as an independent trade license by the state's Construction Industry Licensing Board.
However, if you perform construction work—such as repairs, alterations, or installations—as part of or in addition to inspection services, you may need licensing under Fla. Stat. § 489.105, which defines regulated construction trades. The specific license type depends on the scope of work performed.
How to Get Licensed
Since home inspection itself is not a licensed trade under state law, you do not apply to the Construction Industry Licensing Board for a home inspector license.
If your work includes construction activities (repairs, installations, or structural alterations), you must identify the applicable trade license under Fla. Stat. § 489.111 and § 489.113. You would then:
- Meet the experience and education qualifications for your specific trade
- Pass the licensure examination administered under Fla. Stat. § 489.111
- Apply through the Construction Industry Licensing Board
For details on which license applies to your specific services, contact the Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board or consult Fla. Stat. § 489.105.

These exemptions may or may not apply to inspection services depending on the nature and scope of work performed.
