Engineering Licensing in The Meadows CDP, Florida

Who Needs a License

Work that constitutes "practice" in engineering, architecture, land surveying, or other construction trades regulated under Florida law requires licensure. Fla. Stat. § 489.105 defines the scope of regulated practice. If your work involves design, inspection, or certification of construction, engineering systems, or related technical services in The Meadows CDP, you must hold a valid Florida license issued by the Construction Industry Licensing Board (CILB).

How to Get Licensed

1. Meet Qualifications
You must satisfy education and experience requirements set by Fla. Stat. § 489.113. Requirements vary by discipline (professional engineer, engineer intern, land surveyor, etc.) and typically require:
- Specific post-secondary education (degree or equivalent)
- Documented work experience under a licensed professional
- Passage of the appropriate Florida licensing exam

2. Apply with CILB
Submit your application and documentation to the Construction Industry Licensing Board, established under Fla. Stat. § 489.107. The board processes applications, verifies credentials, and administers exams.

3. Military Credit
If you have relevant military training or education, Fla. Stat. § 489.1131 permits credit toward licensing requirements. Submit documentation of your service record with your application.
